Information we use

Google and Supabase Auth provide your Google account identifier, email, name and basic profile, which may include a profile picture. We use this information for authentication, memoir ownership, a suggested author name and session management. Profile pictures may remain in authentication records but are not used in the memoir interface. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Drive, contacts or calendars.

We store the author name, topic map, conversations, memories, manuscripts, revisions, book structure and translations you provide or generate. Unsent messages and edits may also be saved on the server to restore your work. We process request times, AI usage and error status; hosting and authentication providers may process IP addresses, browser information and access/security logs. We use this information to operate and secure the service, troubleshoot errors and manage usage limits. Support emails and their contents are used to handle your requests.

AI and providers

AI conversation, drafting, editing and translation send relevant conversation history, memories, topics and manuscripts to OpenAI. This can include other people’s information in your writing. Avoid entering sensitive details you do not need to share. Google authentication tokens are not included in AI requests. Your memoir author name and names or emails in your writing may be included as part of the writing context.

Google provides sign-in; Supabase provides authentication and database services; Vercel hosts the website and handles server requests; OpenAI provides AI features. OpenAI’s API policy does not use API data for model training by default. We disable response storage, but this does not mean zero retention: OpenAI may retain abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days, with legal and security exceptions. See OpenAI’s API data policy.

Google data and sharing

We use Google user data for sign-in and account functions, not for sale or personalized advertising. Days in Words’ use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Memoirs are not automatically published or shared with other users. Information may be processed by the providers above, operators who need it to handle a request, and where necessary for legal obligations or security incidents. We do not sell memoirs or personal information for advertising. The service uses US infrastructure, and providers may process information outside your country. You control sharing of downloaded files.

Retention and your choices

We retain memoirs, revisions and drafts as needed to provide the service. Trashed writing remains recoverable until permanently deleted. “Delete memoir and records” removes the memoir and its associated conversations, writing, revisions, usage records and input buffers from the live database. It does not delete your Google account or Supabase authentication record. Contact us to request deletion of authentication data or access, correction or deletion of personal information; we verify identity using only information needed for the request.

Provider security logs, backups or legally required records may persist under applicable retention policies and obligations. Deletion does not remove files you downloaded or shared. Support records are retained to resolve requests and necessary follow-up. You can edit writing and your author name, download your records or a PDF, and revoke Google access. Revocation does not itself delete saved memoirs.

Security, cookies and updates

We use HTTPS, authentication and ownership checks, and application-level encryption for memoir content and server-side drafts. This is not end-to-end encryption: servers decrypt content to display it and provide AI features. Authentication data and operational metadata are handled separately. Essential cookies maintain sign-in, and a browser session identifier links saved drafts. We currently do not install advertising trackers or marketing analytics in the app. We update this page when this policy changes and communicate material changes within the service.
